Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY Performs routine clerical duties, utility collections and provides recordkeeping and customer service functions for the City and its customers.
This position is under the general supervision of the Staff Accountant.
Work is evaluated verbally through performance and annual evaluations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide primary phone and customer service assistance to the public in matters involving utilities.
Assist visitors to City Hall by locating and distributing materials, providing direction, and answering questions.
Process orders for water meters, water turn on-'s and turn-off's.
Give general information about the City's water system to the public.
Work with third party regarding citizen's utility account.
Receive and process payments and receipts; balance register daily.
Process payments received by mail and in the drop box.
Receive complaints concerning weeding, mowing, street repairs, garbage pickup, etc.
over the phone and in person from customers; forward to the appropriate department for resolution.
Complete forms and forward copies to the appropriate parties.
Run delinquent account reports and notices.
Fill out work orders for turn offs due to non-payment of bills and submit for approval.
Open and distribute mail daily.
Scanning and filing duties when required.
Enter data in system for utility billings; run complete billing cycles.
Track and process NSF checks.
Perform other related work as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of utility billing procedures and utility collections preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E driver license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Possess skills to operate computer, typewriter, calculator and any other office machines available in the work environment.
Must have demonstrated skills in basic accounting, 10-key calculator and data entry.
Ability to hear and speak clearly both in person and on the telephone.
Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routines.
Ability to handle multiple interruptions, prioritize work and maintain organization of documents.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, receive and respond well to direction and ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
