Summary:
Under the direction of the Aquatics/Program Director and/or designee, the Pool Manager is responsible for providing leadership to the assigned day-to-day operations and management duties of pool operations.
In the absence of the Aquatic Director, the Pool Manager will help to serve as the leader in charge.
Day-to-day operations may include associate supervision, scheduling, program supervision, pool management/maintenance, and training.
The Pool Manager is responsible for assisting in leading their associate team in superior levels of member service and engagement though implementing fun, robust, and exciting aquatic programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND
Responsibilities:
Lead manager in the absence of the Aquatic Director.
May be required to develop schedules, approve timesheets, and/or other administrative functions as assigned Assists in leading and supervising program activities, aquatic camps, and special events as they relate to aquatic operations Trains and directs associates as needed within the aquatic operations.
Evaluates associate performance and provides feedback to the Aquatics Director.
Maintains records of associate certifications and ensures they are current and compliant with association standards Ability to perform all functions as those they supervise and maintain qualifications and certifications of Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Pool Operator, and Lifeguard Instructor and/or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer.
May be required to secure other certifications/training post hiring Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and Y health and safety regulations and maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels, facility maintenance, records, licenses, and permits Responsible for pool maintenance (including weekly chemicals, backwashing, etc.
) Provides oversight of aquatic associates in regards to daily cleaning of pool decks and surrounding areas Conducts trainings as assigned Supervises swim lesson program and ensures that all best practices are followed and progress reports are distributed as directed by Aquatics Director Fosters an environment that is positive and welcoming to program participants, members, and staff Adheres to Y operating standards and risk management policies Maintains high quality standards adhering to, or surpassing, association standards and care and maintenance of program facility and equipment Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner Performs all other duties as assigned Flexible Schedule (days, nights and weekends) Education/ Experience Required:
Must be at least 21 years of age High School Diploma or GED preferred A minimum of 2
years of experience supervising aquatic operations preferred Certifications/Trainings Required:
Must possess and maintain American Red Cross (If holding YMCA Lifeguard, must crossover to ARC within 60 days of employment) Must possess and maintain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification or obtain within 60 days of employment Must possess and maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and/or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer certification or obtain within 90 days Must possess and maintain a CPO certification or obtain within 60 days Will be required to attend and complete trainings as assigned by supervisor Ability to perform all functions of those they supervise Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with Association standards Flexible Schedule (days, nights and weekends) WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances (in normal and loud situations), and communicate swiftly and effectively with lifeguards, staff, emergency personnel and members.
Ability to observe all areas of the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility, and hear noises and recognize victims in distress.
Remain in or around designated aquatic areas at all times.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to to move to various locations, sit and/or stand for extended periods, including in and around elevated chair.
Ability to direct and control the activities of others, to work under specific instructions, work alone and under stressful conditions.
Ability to crouch and bend at the waist and knees.
Ability to physically and mentally perform all needed rescues, removals (in and out of the water) and survival skills, including administering CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen effectively.
Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position may require availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
