Job Title: Medical Records Clerk

Job Summary: Manages the medical record functions in the department.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Scans all medical record documentation into IEHR utilizing company approved cataloguing system
o Scans incoming medical records, daily work, and paper charts into IEHR
o Creates an imaging task as needed
o Reports scanning errors following company approved process
Processes medical record releases as outlined in the authorization
o Submits request for pre-payment of records or forms
o Reviews record releases to ensure appropriate authorizations have been obtained
o Prints required information and copies paper records
o Reviews subpoenas, determine if an appearance is required
o Creates industrial account for the responsible party if needed
o Creates administrative charge for records release
o Documents disclosure in Practice Management System
Forwards provider correspondence and/or reports to referring providers
o Works trans-review tasks forwarded from provider
o Electronically forwards clinical data to referring FMC providers
o Prints and forwards clinical data to non-FMC referring providers
Requesting paper charts from storage as needed
Addresses Intergy tasks in a timely manner
Handles calls related to medical record requests
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintains an organized and clean work area
Participates in maintenance of office supplies
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
Physical and Mental Demands:
Normal physical ability; able to sit for long periods, bend and lift 20 lbs. using proper body mechanics
Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
Normal level verbal and written communication skills
Average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Occupational Exposure:
Low risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
Job Qualifications:
High school senior or graduate or GED equivalent
Normal organizational skills
Strong team player
Basic computer proficiency
Above average attention to detail

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
