Position: Web Designer/Developer
Reports To: TraderPlanet Development Team Leader
Department: Web Development
Location: Wesley Chapel, FL

Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of this blended, supporting role position is to conceptualize and design site functionality and graphics for our customer facing site(s) and maintain back-end operational functions. This position offers a significant opportunity to shape several key aspects of the business, from the end-user experience through administrative automation and reporting.
Primary Tasks:
Structures Web interfaces; develops conceptual layouts and codes logic for resulting deliverables.
Develops design concepts for print, web and multimedia materials that align with brand guidelines.
Selects and implements appropriate illustrative materials to be used in the mediums.
Maintains and updates Web sites; ensures consistency, accuracy and compliance with required standards.
Proofreads copy; maintains forms, style sheets, related data and applicable reporting as required.
Impact of Decisions:
Lack of technical expertise or a less than a competitive approach to the design of the company's Web sites will result in lost exposure for the relevant Web sites, reduction in site traffic and a decline in prospective advertisers and customers. Poorly executed designs or a lack of regard to proper maintenance of the projects will have a long-term impact on the Company's image and reputation, resulting in lost sales.
Supervision Received:
This position receives direct supervision from Web Development Team Lead, the TraderPlanet Operations Manager, and Market Technologies Vice President.

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.
Internal Communications:
This position is a supporting role that works very closely with the existing Senior Web Developers and TraderPlanet Operations Manager.
External Communication:
This position is expected to communicate with internal and outside parties. He/She will be required to communicate verbally and in writing in a direct and precise manner.
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a team environment as a Web designer
Minimum 7 years of experience as a Web developer
Experience developing and designing web, print and multimedia pieces
Excellent communication and team skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Must be self-disciplined with effective time management abilities, and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
Experience in delivering commercially successful projects within a web environment.
Experience with source code control, experience with git preferred.
Experience with software release management.
Ability to translate business requirements into system design, testing and delivery is essential.
Ability to clarify ambiguous situations, resolve outstanding issues and react quickly to changes in direction.
A customer-centric approach to development and delivery.
Technical Skills:
Developer
Excellent PHP5 programming skills with minimum of 5
years experience.
1-2 years experience with CakePHP framework, version 1.3 preferred.
Excellent MySQL skills 2
years MySQL.
Experience with Capistrano a plus.
Commercial experience in Web Application development and / or software development is desirable.
Experience with Linux server administration preferably Fedora. Apache 2.0
Experience of object oriented programming (OOP) / modular programming is essential.
Experienced in CMS development and ecommerce web applications.
Skilled in CSS and XHTML, concerned in the latest web standards.
Excellent Javascript and AJAX skills preferably jQuery
Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
Git or similar revision control system
Knowledge of Drupal
Experience with multi-media technology (players, editing, format conversions) a plus.
